SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL- LAGOS OFFICE FEATURES ON THE SILVER BIRD TV MORNING NEWS HOUR TO COMMEMORATE WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK

 World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated yearly from August 1 – 7 aimed at promoting breastfeeding and improving the health of babies all around the world. This celebration provides a platform to inform, anchor, engage and galvanize the benefits of breastfeeding as a universal solution for mother and child.

Our nutrition focal officers, Maryann Ezenne (Nutrition Coordinator, STEER project) and Ridwan Awosanya (Nutrition Officer, SDI project) were present to discuss why breastfeeding remains the foundation of life and how Save the Children has being partnering with Lagos State Government to promote, protect and support breastfeeding in Lagos state

According to Save the Children’s representatives, the benefits of breastfeeding to the mother and child can’t be over-emphasized with attendant benefits including the bond shared between mother and child, protection from breast and ovarian cancer, serves as a contraception tools which helps to delay new pregnancy, improves the Intelligent Quotient (IQ) and develops into a useful youth contributing to national development.
