SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL, KATSINA FIELD OFFICE DISTRIBUTES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO CHILDREN AFFECTED BY FLOOD in JIBIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA
Jibia Local Government Area in Katsina State recently experienced flooding as a result of over 9 hours heavy rainfall. The rain destroyed over 500 houses, electrical installations and washed away roads. Thousands of residents were also rendered homeless, the most affected areas were Unguwar Kwa-kwa, Unguwar Mai Kwari, Tudun Takari and Dan Tudu all of Jibia town which is on the border with Niger Republic. The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo visited the town and offered federal Government assistance through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
On Wednesday 1st August, 2018 Save the Children International Field Manager in Katsina State, presented a cheque of Nine hundred and Eight thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira only (N908, 750) to the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Education Professor Badamasi Lawan, who appreciated the effort of Save the Children. He said the support came at the right time, as most of the children have lost all their educational materials including uniforms, books and other writing materials. This financial aid from Save the Children International will be used to support over 300 children with School Uniforms, Set of books, Schools bags and Writing materials.
Save the Children International will also commence support for the cholera outbreak response in Jibia LGA from Monday 3rd September, 2018.
