SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL, KATSINA FIELD OFFICE DISTRIBUTES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO CHILDREN AFFECTED BY FLOOD in JIBIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Jibia Local Government Area in Katsina State recently experienced flooding as a result of over 9 hours heavy rainfall. The rain destroyed over 500 houses, electrical installations and washed away roads. Thousands of residents were also rendered homeless, the most affected areas were Unguwar Kwa-kwa, Unguwar Mai Kwari, Tudun Takari and Dan Tudu all of Jibia town which is on the border with Niger Republic. The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo visited the town and offered federal Government assistance through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Working to Improve Nutrition in Northern Nigeria (WINNN) Launches Adopt-A- Site Campaign

To ensure that interventions are well sustained beyond the life of the programme which ends in March 2019, WINNN (Working to Improve Nutrition in Northern Nigeria) implements a sustainability strategy that includes supporting the state governments of Jigawa and Yobe to domesticate the National Policy on Food and Nutrition, develop a robust 5 year, costed multi sectoral nutrition strategic plan, build the capacity of the State Food and Nutrition Committees to effectively coordinate nutrition activities and advocating for increased government funding for nutrition among others.
