SAVE THE CHILDREN GETS SELECTED AS A MEMBER OF NATIONAL CHILD RIGHTS IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development (FMoWASD), Mrs. Ifeoma N. Anagbogu, officially reconstituted and re-inaugurated the National Child Rights Implementation Committee (NCRIC) on 10th May 2018, in Abuja, in which Save the Children has been selected as a member of NCRIC, together with a few other UN agencies and child focused INGOs. The event came as a huge leap, due to the reason that the last time the Committee had convened was eight years ago.

Save the Children International facilitates restoration of Hygiene and Water Sanitation at Adaranijo Market, Lagos state

Adaranijo market buzzes with commercial activity, as buyers and sellers spend no less than 10hours daily exchanging goods and currency. Strategically located within Shomolu LGA, and known for its fresh produce, Adaranijo market is readily frequented by Women and children alike. Given the flow of people in and out of the market, and the absence of functional toilet facilities to serve the market area, defecating in the open fast became the order of the day in the area that surrounds Adaranijo market.

WASH policy gets approved by the Lagos state government

The National Water, Sanitation and Hygiene policy was approved in year 2000 and it envisioned institutional and policy reforms at state levels. The broad objectives of the national WASH policy was to improve access to adequate, affordable and sustainable water supply through the active participation of the Federal, State and local government, NGOs, Development partners, private sector, communities, households and individuals for improved health outcomes for urban and rural dwellers.
